Field notes on rogue OTAs, parity and direct demand.

Practical research for revenue managers, distribution leaders and brand-protection teams.

Rate parity issues are usually caused by third party OTAs, notably listing hotel rooms without permission and offering prices below the hotel’s own channels.

This practice pushes revenue towards uncontrolled intermediaries and forces hotels to raise bids on paid search for their own brand terms, increasing pay-per-click (PPC) costs while losing direct bookings to those same sellers.

Once those repeat offenders are identified, Bowerbird uses existing copyright mechanisms to remove listings from unauthorised channels and monitor them to prevent reappearance, creating a detect-and-enforce loop.
